3.9.3 Email

ZTrust uses an SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) server to manage and deliver all email-based communication securely and reliably. Email notifications play a critical role in user lifecycle management and security, ensuring that important information reaches users at the right time.

Some of the key email scenarios include:

  • Account Verification – Send activation or verification links during new user registration.

  • Password Management – Deliver password reset instructions when users request recovery.

  • Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) – Send one-time passcodes (OTP) to strengthen login security.

  • Administrative Alerts – Notify administrators about system-level events or policy updates.

  • Account Updates – Inform users about profile changes, role assignments, or other account-related activities.

To enable these capabilities, SMTP must be configured at the realm level within the ZTrust Admin Console. This ensures that every application connected to the realm can leverage centralized email delivery. Proper configuration of the SMTP server helps maintain trust, prevents communication failures, and enhances overall user experience.
