# 3.1 Clients

#### What is a Client in ZTrust?

A client in **ZTrust** is an entity (**application**) that can request **authentication** from ZTrust on behalf of a user. It's typically either a web application or mobile app or API, or any service that uses ZTrust for authentication or authorization.
